In the example above, you used your power of imagination to
control your thoughts by recalling circumstances that happened sometimes ago.
In order to gain control of your thoughts, you will have to practice
disciplining your mind on the daily basis. Every time your mind is swamped by
thoughts you are refusing to entertain, focus on something that remind you of a
pleasant experience and keep thinking about it until the negative thoughts
disappear into the distance. Get into the habit of practicing being happy by
never dwelling on the negatives in your life and always focus on learning from
your setbacks and moving quickly to more joyful circumstances in order to fill
your mind only with the thoughts you desire.
