ARE YOU A PASSENGER OR THE DRIVER IN YOUR LIFE?

If you want to live your by design you have to be in control, you have to be able to set yourself goals you want to achieve. These goals have to come from your true self or life calling because if you are not passionate about your goals you will struggle to take action to achieve them. You then have a choice as far as your life is concerned because if you are just a passenger you are leaving driving seat vulnerable for anyone willing to take over your life. Your ability to achieve any kind of success depends on whether you are the driver or a passenger in your life.

Most people will have you believe that they are in charge of their life but they don’t know that they are been quietly manipulated by the real driver who could be a friend or a family member. Every time you are going through hard times, you feel the need to confide in your circle of close friends or family members. Generally you will greatly value the opinion of these people who play an important part in your life. As their opinion is valuable to you, you would readily listen more often and accept their advice. The higher you value an individual or a group of people the more you want to listen and implement their advice.

I am not suggesting that you should not listen to anyone; I am merely saying that if you are going to listen to someone, make sure that the person is qualified to advise you on the subject matter. The mistake most people make is that they tend to seek the advice of the wrong crowd and, that result in them receiving the worst kind of input or advice. Many dreams have been destroyed because those wanting to achieve or change their life made the terrible mistake of listening to the unqualified people. Your life is precious, it is up to you to choose who surround yourself with and, the kind of environment you want to help you achieve your goals.

It doesn’t matter whether you are in control of your life or not, you are still responsible for it. If you are not in the driver seat of your life, it is because you have allowed someone else to take over. You cannot expect someone other than you to lead your life the way you want, as a passenger you have no room to manoeuver. You have to accept whatever road the driver decide to travel on, you can only complain about his style of driving if you don’t like it. There is little you can do to stop him if he or she is driving very slow or very fast. You have to abide by the choices of the driver and you can only get out the passenger seat when the car stops.

Unfortunately, many people mistakenly think they are in the driver seat until they realise that they lost control to someone or a group of people long time ago. You have to always decide who can help in every circumstance before taking the initiative to approach them for guidance and advice. The quality of your life is directly linked to those you listen to, if you are in charge and choose to listen to those who can help you move forward, your life will begin to improve as you will be well anchored in the driver seat. Taking responsibility in this scenario will be easy as you know it will only facilitate your progress. Never relinquish control of your life to anyone as you cannot always guarantee their intention or their action, the only person who can serve you best is you.
