Learn to forgive other for offending you in order to free
yourself and become a better person. I know many people reading this will
probably sneer or at worst get angry because, they believe that they are
entitled to retaliate if someone offends them. Let me tell you that it is not
my intention to tell anyone what to do with their life but, as a teacher and a
learner I have come to realise that your peace of mind is extremely important
for your spiritual wellbeing. If you are at peace within yourself, you are a
troubled soul and therefore you cannot be happy.
Let me say this for those of you who don’t know it yet:
you are a spiritual being living in a perishable body. This means that your
spiritual dimension is more important than your physical one. If this is true,
how can you neglect your spiritual life by keeping in your mind grudges about
people you believe offended sometimes for many years, in some cases even when
they have forgotten the wrongs they done to you?
The answer to this question
is simple; your ego is telling you to hold on to your grudge because you have
the right to hit back at those who hurt you. Your biggest mistake is that you
are the only one hurting; in fact you are allowing yourself to be continuously
hurt by that same person after the initial offence. If you are still in doubt,
you only have to see what happens when you finally decide to let go of your
grudge. You are left wondering why you kept hold of that all this time. This is
why you should not waste your precious time and energy keeping hold of grudges
about people who presumably offended you a long time ago.
Learn to forget and forgive
for your own sake, let go of the hurt as soon as possible and clear your mind
of all that is negative to keep and maintain a peace of mind. If you cannot
keep your room full of rubbish and clutter, why would keep your mind full of
grudges for years and therefore deny yourself the opportunity to heal and live
a peaceful life? You are not going to lose anything by forgiving others; you
are creating a peaceful environment by getting rid of all that is not conducive
of a healthy life and by cultivating a restful mind.
When you begin to learn how
to forget and forgive, you will become a different and tolerant person,
stronger in your mind as you easily rise above things like jealousy, envy and
grudges. As you reach that level of consciousness, you will be and feel like an
extraordinary being. As I said in the beginning, I am not telling what to do
but just giving you more options by showing another way. The choice will always
be yours because the way you choose to live your life is entirely up to you.
