STAND FOR SOMETHING

Someone once said that if you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything. This is absolutely true because you are guided by choices as you make them, but if you do not choose the life you want to live, someone will make that choice for you. Every time a vacuum is created, it has to be filled and if you are not in control of your life, you are leaving yourself open for others to take advantage of you.

Do you know what you want? Do you know how get it? Do you know the steps you have to take to make it happen? These questions are very important if you want to be in control of your life. The unfortunate truth is that most people don’t know what they want and, therefore leave themselves open to manipulation and abused from those who are smart enough to understand how to take advantage of them.

A man went in search of the Holy Grail, he was a very rich man in his country but as he prepared to embark on that all important search, he thought the best way to approach it was not to burden himself with all his possession so he decided to sell everything he had. He intended to use the money to fund his adventure in search of the Holy Grail that was going to make him richer and one the most powerful men in the world.  Even though he was not entirely sure of his destination, he carried his research and, knew at least where to start his journey and that was enough for him.

He was travelling with some of his servant to help him along the way, after long journey trying to keep on track and constantly following the initial map he had constructed after his research, he came to a stage where he ran out of ideas about the next move. He decided to take a break to assess the journey up to that point and, figure out how to proceed. As he was clueless about the rest of journey, he had to rely on others to help him move forward.

He was then advised by a very clever servant who seized the opportunity to take the lead and showed his master the next steps. Unfortunately for the man, he was been led astray by a crafty man who was taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of his master to make some money for himself. The servant lured them to a place where the man and his companions were robbed of most of their possessions by pirates. The man never finished the journey and, came back home completely dispossessed and beaten. He was barely able to explain what happened.

This is an example of what can happen to you when you are unsure about what you want and, how to get it. As you can see, it is very important to know what you want and establish how to move forward. Do no expose yourself to abuse and manipulation by not knowing what you want and the steps to take to realise it. There are people around you sometimes very close to you who are waiting to pounce at the slightest opportunity they can get.
