DO NOT REACT TO LIFE ACT ON IT

Some people spend their life waiting for things to happen and, hoping for the best. They tend to always be on the defensive because they are not in control of what happen to them. These people spend their life reacting to life instead of acting on it. When you get into this state of mind, you will find yourself most of the time on the back foot. If you are not in charge of your life, you are leaving it to someone else to control it and they might run it the way you want. The winners in life are those who plan and execute it to get the result they want.

How do become a winner in your own life? You have to understand that winning the game of life required the attitude of someone who is always on the offensive; you cannot sit back and wait for things to happen if you want to succeed. If you want to play the waiting game with life, it will pass you by and you won’t even notice it. You have to be looking for something to find it, which is the mistake many make in search of the so called better life. They set out to look for something without knowing exactly what they are looking for and how to attain it, they waste an enormous amount of time going to all the wrong places because they have no direction to follow. The most logical outcome is a life of struggle and frustration, due to lack of clear goals and proper planning. That is the reason Benjamin Franklin said:” By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail”.

You want to be in a position to seize your opportunities in life but to be able to do so; you have to recognise them for what they are. Many people spend their entire life looking for things they don’t really want until one day, through sheer persistence and tenacity they get them only to realise that it was not exactly what they were looking for. A man wanted to own and drive a Bentley, one of the most expensive cars in the world. He decided to get the kind of income that would allow him to achieve his dream of buying that particular car. He saved for many months until he was almost ready to buy the car in cash but, before doing so he had the presence of mind of going for a test drive.

The test drive lasted for forty five minutes and, he left the car dealership feeling completely and utterly disappointed. He had just discovered that Bentley was not the type of car he wanted to drive let alone buy outright, for such a large amount of money. This story is an indication of what happen to those who don’t take the time to identify and set their goals, plan how to achieve them before going out to execute the plan. If want to consistently achieve your goals, learn not to react to life, be proactive and act on it. When you learn to plan your goals, it makes it easier for you to achieve them by keeping you in charge. Instead of waiting for things to happen before you take action, you want to be the one making things happen by proactively taking the appropriate actions.
