DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO NOBODY

You are unique, why would you compare yourself to anybody? People are different and everyone has something different to offer, your life purpose is not the same as anyone and that is the reason accepting who you are is crucial to your fulfilment. The easier way for anyone to lead an unhappy life is to begin to compare their life to that of others. Every time you compare yourself to others, you always see your circumstances as worse than theirs. Your friends, your classmates, your neighbours, your family members and even your parents are different from you. That is something you cannot change because it is part of the mystery of life.

Once upon a time there were two couples who were very close and have been friends for years, supporting each other through the path of their daily life until one day; couple one started improving their life financially. Couple two did not take it kindly that their friends were now getting better financially and decided to do whatever was necessary to keep up with the spending of couple one. Each time couple one made an expensive buy, couple two will emulate them by mortgaging their life in debt. Couple one life kept getting better and better and because couple two could not keep up with their spending power, the relationship between the two couple lasting for almost a decade came to an abrupt stop.

This is an example of what happen when you spend your time comparing yourself to others instead of focusing on yourself and how you can make your life better. The relationship between the two couples could have gone another way if rather than allowing themselves to be control by jealousy, couple two actually approach their friends and asked for help in improving their life. If you spend your time looking at what others are doing with their life, you will not have the time to develop yourself. I am not saying that it is not a good thing to emulate those you admire, one thing is certain, those who are always comparing themselves with other quickly conclude that they are no better.

There is big difference between emulating your idol and compare yourself to other and wondering why their life is getting better while yours is going nowhere. Most people think that what they have is not good enough compare to what others have. The wife of the neighbour is more beautiful than mine, the children of my cousin are more intelligent than mine, the car of my colleague is more expensive and the house of my friend is more presentable than mine. Some people are always comparing what they have with others; they are always seeing those they are using as object of comparison as having the perfect image of what they have.

Learn to live a happy and less stressful life by focusing on what you can do to improve your life. Desist from comparing yourself with others but, learn to emulate those you admire to become a better version of you. If you enjoy the journey, the pursuit of a better life will be a source of joy and a labour of love not heartache.
